30 Seconds To Mars @ iTunes festival 18/9/13



The third week into the mighty iTunes festival, and this fine Wednesday, a world wide famous, 30 Seconds To Mars were set to play the main stage to many screaming, dedicated fans for an iTunes special gig.
I had previously met the band the day before, which had guaranteed me guest list tickets for the show tonight, which gave me a massive relief that I didn't have to wait around for ages to queue up or even worry about getting in thanks to the band and Jared personally.

A lot of their dedicated and die hard fans who didn't get a ticket had been queuing up since 6am that day, people form all over the place flying in just to see them, some people from Birmingham, Manchester, Spain, anywhere all travelled this massive distance just to go and see 30STM at iTunes festival. But let me tell you that it was all worth it in the end, as most of them got in, even in the standby as the venue began to pack up until it was actually full to the brim. I noticed that a lot of people who were there were actually really big 30STM fans, and all had the warrior paint on their faces, wearing merch, necklaces in support which almost made it seem like their own headline tour rather than playing for an iTunes date.

The first support band were called "The Family Rain", previously never hearing of this band, but heard good gossip about them they did meet my expectations as to their live performance was great. Most support bands seem to be boring at iTunes and don't really move around much or play any energetic music, however this night was totally different, as they went straight into it like they were headlining. There was even a whole group of Spanish girls next to us going in with a full frontal mosh towards the band as they seemed to be really enjoying it.

A perfect support to get the crowd really going before the spectacular band of, 30 SECONDS TO MARS took to the stage with their astonishing performance. This also being the first time I would have seen them live, I was told by many fans that their shows were always different and memorising, in which they don't just play a normal gig but also involve the crowd heavily and focus on them having a good time, which is what I like to see from bands, because it shows they actually consider their fans highly.
The tension was building up as the countdown began and it got closer and closer for the band to arrive on stage, the screams from many fans filled the roundhouse with excitement and anticipation whilst the faint found of "Birth" came into play. The stage was marked with two men in gas marks and large flash lights shining it at the crowd, creating a mysterious, suspense for us and each time they did, the part of the audience screamed and cheered with eagerness for the three main band members to appear.
Firstly to hit the stage was Shannon, as the song stopped and the stage blacked out into darkness before returning with the sinister music, flashing lights and echelon symbols appearing all around the back drop. The next was Tomo who hit up his guitar before the lead vocalist Jared took to the stage in his gigantic, black, raven coat, welcoming us all into the gig, which made every single person in that venue jump right up to him with their voices reaching his face and bouncing back, echoing the room with Mars fans.

Right after that the music submerged into the first proper song which was "The night of the hunter".
Still filled with screams which now changed to beautiful voices and music that rebounded Jared's husky voice, the venue was now ready for a bit of 30STM and what they had to bring to tonight's show of the iTunes festival. The way in which everyone knew every single lyric to the song, already previewed that the rest of the gig would follow through and be even more spectacular than it started off as.
The opening song was a pretty old one, which was a perfect choice to start with as I hadn't been a big fan on their new album but absolutely adored their old music which made me feel eve more comfortable that they had chosen to play it. The lights, drums and techno beat of the keyboard were in perfect sync, alongside the echoed "whoas" from the crowd just hyped up the whole atmosphere making the tension at its highest before drawing a close with the claps of ear-piercing fans.

Ensuing a similar style of the techno keyboards bouncing back and forth from the drums, they changed from "The night of the hunter" to "Search and destroy" which was another upbeat, vigorous song, getting the crowd bopping along with the bass drum as Jared circled the stage, pushing forth the mic out so the crowd to could be heard and not just him. As he sang the main chorus, we sang the backing vocals, booming the whole venue with thousands of voices which matched tire sum faces all glued to one area of the stage.
The music then began to fade, closing the empty space with quiet which was soon filled by the cheering and clapping of fans before they started up their next mammoth song.
THIS IS WAR.

Now this song has to be one of my all time favourites, purely on the message and underlining meaning, but as well because of its high tempo and accelerating vocals which are sung with such passion and change of pitch which makes the whole song truly remarkable. So when I heard they were playing it at iTunes, I couldn't' have jumped more with excitement that I was going to be hearing it for the first time live right in front of me. From the moment the littler verse came in, everyone just began repeating the lyrics back as so did I, the tension was building up right from the pre-chorus to the chorus, as Jared came over to our side and reached forward so we could repeat the words into it before running back to the other side of the stage where he did the same, involving the crowd completely. Jumping up and down with the flashing and changing of the lights, the room now went from a cold blue to a much passionate, thirsty red colour where giant balloons of all colours exploded from the ceiling, filling the room with even more colour and composure, creating the atmosphere at an all time high, it was rightfully perfect.

Just before Jared started the next song, he stooped to catch his breath before returning his lips to speak to the crowd once again, but this time he reached out to us or should I say one person in particular to come forth and join him on stage. This is something which is definitely commonly found at gigs, and that one lucky person's dreams will come true. Today it was a tall young teenager who had travelled from Manchester just to be at the show tonight, so it was well deserved. As he hurried to the stage, filled with excitment the crowd cheered him on as Jared swang his hand round the guys neck, treating him as a long lost friend, before reaching to the crowd and pulling a few jokes. The main reason in which he called him up was to help us learn a new song, which was the next one, and what better way to do it than get a fan on stage to help out.

Now this song was from their newest album which had just been released, but that didn't


stop the whole crowd from already knowing each lyric of by heart, singing in perfect sync with Jared. "AND THE STORY GOES ON AND ON AND ON AND ON, THAT'S HOW THE STORY GOES" was fully on repeat as well all boomed and cheered in with the singing alongside the band. At this point the atmosphere was totally vibrant and full of screamed expressions as Jared ran around the stage holding the united kingdom flag waving it in a theatricality performance before drawing it to a close with the sound of thousands of hands clapping in appreciation ended the song perfectly before the stage turned black and silence fell. Confused by what just happened the stage lights soon then returned with a the crew moving bits out of the way and clearing the space for an amazing acrobat act to perform as a short intiveal took place. As seen in the Up In The Air music video, the same guy who has spun around and around in a single, what looked like a giant hula hoop got on stage and started to do his thing, firstly startung out slow but beginning to gradually get faster and faster before he went upside down, did a few flips and all sorts of things in this single circular wheel.
I had honestly never seen anything like that before, right in front of me but also at a gig, it was so unique, powerful and unexpected which made it all the more immense to see. As you can say that 30STM know how to put on a show, tonight wasn't just about the music, it was more about the crowd and entertaining us along with the band and generally having a good time which is exactly what happened in the end. 

Drawing the act to a close with another blackout before the rest of the band returning back on stage for another oldie. Straight away Tomo got into the song with his heavy guitar riffs playing a mixture of a soft melody combined with a fast paste rushed theme as extra stringed instruments added to this intensity before returning to its cold sad structure of the piano, being played as the keys hit the crowd cheered, knowing it was one of their new songs.
 The lighting had now become dim and low key with the smoke beginning to fog up the stage, just as its main focus was on Jared pouring his heart out right at the tip of the stage. Because of such a build up the crowd was dead silent, just standing in anticipation, admiring the stunning echoes of his voices as well felt the passion occurring through his voice.

Just about half wya through the gig, the mood drops to focus on a serious tone, to let us catch our breath and truly engage with the music on its own, before it can then be risen up again but only very slowly at a gradual pace with the right follow up song, and this was "City of angles" which started off with a heavy drum beat, mixed up with the techno sound of the DJ set, until it was matched with Jared harsh, husky voice, using a gradual tempo before the chorus burst out and the music took a total uplift. This allowed the crowd to swag from side to side as the song was not as jumpy and bouncy enough to be moshing, but just the right change from the mood before to get us back into the upbeat mood in which the band has continuously been playing at.


And if that wasn't enough, the night still wasn't over yet, as the band had more planned, another acrobatic act was due to perform with the quick change of scenery and a new song added to play in the background to create further tension and build up of to what will happen next, two men joined the stage onto what looked like a see-saw in the middle, each took it in turn to jump at one end whilst the other flew into the air, they did this continuously before they got higher and higher and then began to do all kind of flips before returning right back to the same spot they started in. It was actually shocking to watch as we as an audience were dying, hoping they wouldn't fall but land back, and they did. Being proper pro's at it they did this a number of times each time going higher, faster into the air before returning in each others arms from what was a remarkable conformance, yet again.

The people at home watching this from the live stream really must be jealous in what they were missing out because I know I certainly would be, because it was more than just watching a band play on stage, 30STM made it very special and unique leaving their trademark at the iTunes festival in which will probably be one of the best shows held at the roundhouse, because so far it certainty was the best I've ever been to.

And to think It couldn't get any better, but it just did. The stage was now set up for an acoustic set with just Jared doing a few old classic songs, the first of which was Hurricane, an all time favourite in which everyone knew the words to. As soon as the first word escaped his mouth the mood has suddenly dissolved from what was happy to a firm, stern realisation of how powerful his voice was in comparison to the song and the structure of it, as it was his solid raw voice with nothing, one of the many magical effects of an acoustic. This then diverted while the instruments started up to build up towards the chorus, as the crowed matched this with the swaying of their hands in the air, holding bright lights and lighters, flowing along with the mood and atmosphere of the whole room. The way in which Jared would look every single person straight in the eye and not move until the line was over, made everyone feel the deep connection in his voice as they found them selves repeating the same thing as he had just spoke. It got to the bridge where he snapped out of the trance and made us all sing the final part which consisted of "Whoas" before it drooped to a thunderous sensation of clapping.
Right after this refreshing thunder, Jared then again got us lifted back as he asked " WHO WANT'S TO COME TO OUR SHOW IN NOVEMBER" Which sent the crowd flooding with roars with excitement, as he ran across the stage looking out for people to pick to get up and win tickets to their headling tour, luckily enough my friend who was standing next to me was a massive fan of the band and jumped so high he nearly reached the roof, this was when Jared caught his eye and pulled him right up to be the first person on stage.  I was so happy for him and so relived that he deserved to win, as he had been in the queue today since 6am. It was a truly nice thing for Jared to do, as it shows even more how much he cares for his fans and a little thing like that can make them so happy and grateful, as he got on stage, they again cracked a few more jokes and the look in his eye told me that he was the happiest guy alive, to be right there on stage with one of your idols talking to you. A few moments later he was joined by three other men all filled with the same excitement as my friend, DuShaun on stage with Jared.

Leto really did like to do this thing where he would get out blood pumping before returning it back down again then again rising it, which I thought was just perfect and something we all needed to really wake us up without being too over heated, so another acoustic was in play but this time it was "THE KILL (BURY ME) one of their most famous songs released. As soon as the guitar rift came into play, we were all just swaying singing along every single word until our lungs gave up. The whole crowd was in perfect union with Jared, feeling the harmonises in sync, pelting every last bit of energy we had left. (Live footage)
Even though we weren't all singers, it didn't matter because we all were just having a good time no one seemed to care. As it came to the final verse, we all fell together with cheers and I could also see people actually touched so much by the song that they began to shed a tear running down their check.


It was drawing to a final close now, as the set was nearly over and 30STM only had a few more songs left to play, and what better than a new, live, upbeat song to get them in the mood. as the rest of the band now came back and took to the stage for the final song of "Closer To The Edge" the whole crowd drooped the silence with screams and bounced excitements. At this point everyone just went mad, as the balloons began to fill the venues air, and people moshing having fun, with smiles all over their faces as they screamed their lungs out to the final song. It was so magical that even Jared came right to the barrier and into the crowd as a sea of hands almost had him demolished. It was truly brilliant to have, the lead vocalist so close up to the point where you could actually touch him, it tied in with the whole overwhelming atmosphere and ended the night perfectly before he had to return back to the stage before it went into a black out.

But the crowd wanted more, as always there was an expectancy for an encore song which actually did happen, as the whole band arrive back on stage, like they did the first time to actually play their last song, "Up In The Air" as this was just released from their latest album, it was a perfect choice to end with. But Jared wanted it to be even more special, not only did he want to play the song on stage, but he wanted many of his fans to join him, so shortly before the song kicked into play he grabbed the attention of many fans in the crowd, pulling them all onstage to join him with this final celebration, at this point everyone wanted to get up, and crowds of people rushed forward over the barriers, around the barriers, all trying to reach the stage and join Jared. It got to the point where the stage was more full than the crowd, and thousands of mars fans were screaming that they were so close to their idols. Once everyone was settled in, Jared began singing the intro to the song as everyone's lips in the room mimicked also. The tranquil and vibrant atmosphere was hen erupted by the shooting of the confetti cannon as it covered us all with the magical celebration that 30STM had presented. As now it actually was the last song, it created a few crowd surfers and people harder moshing, all just screaming their heart out having fun, which is exactly what they had provided for us for the WHOLE night. The showers of confetti didn't stop until the last word was spoken and it was then all officially over. But no one wanted it to be.

As the stage was cleared and the band started packing up, fans still waited on the floor, dancing along with memories they have just had, not willing to leave as yet. I however felt that despite it being an iTunes gig, it was one of the best I had ever been to. They whole atmosphere was right on and perfect, as not only did they provide us the music but also a mind blowing performance which I would not expect. 30STM are just full of surprises and they never fail, as talking to a few fans who had seen hem before made me realise that this is a typical gig for them and their headline show in November would resemble a similarity. This new pieces of information had actually made me want to go and get a ticket, as I am not a huge fan, but I do enjoy the band previous and know now for sure that they are worth seeing, wherever, because they make you feel so welcomed and connected, always making the audience feel involved and never forgetting they're there, rather than just playing their songs, the band interacts more, getting us involved which is what is lacking in the majority of gigs I have been to. For that reason I would rate this gig a strong 10/10 as everything i had expected and more had been provided for me and I had enjoyed it much more than I thought.

Vampire Weekend @ iTunes festival 15/9/13

Every year the iTunes festival arrives at the Camden Roundhouse for the whole of September, filling each day up with two amazing acts. Every single day, a world wide famous band will take to the stage to headline and celebrate the festival for a day, and 300 lucky winners also get invited for free to be a part of it.
I unfortunately weren't one, however this did not stop me on missing out on all the fun. For those who were unlucky such as myself, there was an option to go into the "Stand by queue" which meant if there were any spaces in the venue, they would let people form the queue go into the gig, which was a decent thing to do.

It was the second week into the very busy, band packed festival and a band called Vampire Weekend were set to play the stage on a very wet cold Sunday night. Liking the band a fair amount to spend my Sunday in the stand by queue while it chucks it down with rain didn't sound like a bad idea. A free gig is a free gig, and what you have to do to get in is most probably worth it! The waiting around wants that bad, as we got the Chinese take away shop right opposite the queue to come and deliver us food whilst we ate it in the queue.


Whilst we waited a good four hours in the cold rain, the security guards finally let a few people from the stand by queue into the venue, attaching on orange wristbands to everyone as they packed up the venue of The Roundhouse. We were of course one of the lucky ones who got in, I guess all that waiting around did pay off as now we were inside the venue, watching the support band, waiting for Vampire Weekend to take to the stage.

Before they arrived, a countdown appeared on the two drop screens in the venue, where the whole crowd could wait in anticipation together for the band to start playing. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.
VAMPIRE WEEKEND all bounced out of thin air and onto the semicircular stage, belting "Diane Young" to a very aroused crowd.
Instantly, everyone started to soft moshing, with their hands in the air, connecting with the music as the band carried out their opening song.

I had never seen Vampire Weekend play live before, and to see them for the first time, instantly have the crowd on their side was impressive. I hadn't been much of a fan but always loved hearing them on the radio because they just made such happy, weird, unique, bouncy music which was easy to pick up on with the repetitive beats and techno vocals.

 For a iTunes festival concert, it was more than I expect, as just previously witnessing Jake Bugg before, I had previous expectations as to it being relativity dull and boring, due to the crowd not moving around. However I was completely wrong with this as, a small group towards the middle had the right idea, and soon the rest of the crowd joined in.
Every single detail about the gig was perfectly matched to their music, the lighting at the Roundhouse is defiantly one of the best, as it kept changing with all sorts of effects, along with the back screen with its hipster, floral print, matching the atmosphere and vibe of the gig. They certainly did know how to put on a show.

The next few songs were all upbeat and live ans they played, Cousins, Unbeliever followed by Holiday which got the whole atmosphere pumped up right to the top. The music they play is so diverse in the rhythm, beats and tempo which makes them so surprising and enjoyable as nothing is predicable.
This song in particular reminded me of the summer and took me back to a warm day on the beach, forgetting the cold, rainy, British weather outside which was amazing for them to make me feel that way.
Even though each song was relatively short, it added to the build up of the next and how each one slotted into each other so perfectly and pristine. Resulting in the next song taking a step back and being more quiet and slow, this got the whole mood to be calm and quiet as the main focus was glued on Ezra Koenig and his beautiful voice. The lighting then matched this chaining it all to be a sad blue, with the spotlight on the lead singer.

The vibrant colours which flashed next introduced "Unbelievers" which was their recent single, just been released, lifting the mood back up to its energetic self. As well as playing the music, the band also then interacted with the crowd, asking us how we were going but also if we wanted to learn a song, they would say the words then we would all simply reply, which was a perfect way of interacting and making everyone feel involved which was a lovely thing to do, especially as the song had a tropical, Caribbean feel to it.

I loved the way the band could just play any one of their songs but also export you to a different place each time, making you feel as though you were in a completely different place, but each time you were exactly where you wanted to be. Which was one of the many unique things about this band and why I enjoyed it so much.

It was fast approaching the end of the night as Vampire Weekend had played a massive 17 songs to the crowd tonight, but we still wanted more, chanting
ENCORE, ENCORE, ENCORE!
which to them played a queue as they arrived back on stage to play not one, but three whole songs.
Which were all absolute bangers, lifting the crowd back to gig mode and having their final mosh whilst they could still enjoy it. For a free gig, Vampire Weekend certainly did make the most of it, as they shared a few banter jokes with the crowd before playing their final song, in which we all repeated back with tired, yet still energetic faces, enjoying "Walcott" as this was their last song for the night.
They had disobediently done the show justice as the fast pace of the keys hitting the board and harmonic drum clashes finished finely with the sharpness of the violins, the crowd began to disperse from a remarkable gig in which Vampire Weekend played a part in.

Surprised I enjoyed myself more than I expected I would rate this band a strong 8.5/10 on Performance, interaction and overall vocals of a 9.9 as they are truly better live than on CD.

While She Sleeps @ Vans store Camden 28/8/13

 Today was just a normal Wednesday like no other in the streets of Camden and people went by as their usual routines however THIS Wednesday was not.
Just a few days ago Sheffield's finest, While She Sleeps got announced that they would playing in the vans store in Camden Town later today.

This was massive news for sleeps fans as they had just come back from playing a monstrous set at reading, and were already back in London to play another small, intimate FREE show for their fans. Now you can't say that this band doesn't care about their fans, because they value them more than money.
Now the Vans store said you need to have a wrist band or be on the guest list to get into this small free show, neither of which I had however it was still too much of a good opportunity to pass by so I decided to go along just to see. It actually turned out that a lot of people were already there and the time was only 1pm, five hours before the gig was supposed to begin. Most of them were like me, wanting to get in but had no wristband. Despite all of this we waited outside the store until the gig was going to start to see if there was any extra room inside for us, even if they wasn't we could still enjoy the gig from outside.
 As it was While She Sleeps and they don't exactly put on a show for a small crowd.

Sitting outside the store for a while, we decided to go in and to our surprise the whole band was inside casually shopping like the next customer through the door was. The first member we saw was Mat Welsh, who was trying on a jacket that was way to big for him. He was really friendly and easy to talk to about what was going on and how they were and what happened at reading, he seemed to chilled out and relaxed about it all, soon after that we saw Loz and Sean trying on shoes at the back and went over to talk to them for a bit. We told Lawrence the funny about his sister coming up to us at slam dunk and declaring she was his sister and telling us where he got the lyrics to "Our courage our cancer" from. We wouldn't actually find Adam in the store but managed to find Aaron, who firstly said "I remember you" to me which came as a massive shock to me. I had been to a couple of their shows and signings but never would I have though that a band member would recognise me!
After all the meeting was over the gig actually began, and WSS took to just a small corner of the shop to play for a pretty large crowd of fans inside and out. Turns out that there wasn't enough room however this didn't matter, because everyone in the streets of Camden could hear their music through the shop doors and all joined in with the crowd.
Inside look really packed and stuffy but everyone was breaking out and moshing along, screaming the lyrics to every verse that had been sang, this was the same outside as there was an equal crowd following the same pattern but also starting a mosh pit just outside the store. When "This Is The Six" kicked in there was now a large circle pit formed where a few hardcore fans joined in, bashing each other to the beat of the song. Soon more and more people from the streets crowed and joined in to see what was going on.

Before we knew it Loz and Mat, ran through the crowd and joined us into the outside pit still screaming along with the song getting the outside crowd involved. At this point everyone pushed forth towards them, crowding them with their lyrics at full blast. This was exactly what you would expect from a WSS crowd, truly live and mental as it was so unexpected and wild. Loz then gave a quick talk thanking us for coming down and apologising for not getting everyone in, however he made sure that he brought the party both inside and out, which was honestly so lovely of him to do.
 The crowd outside got larger and larger as more people were curious to see what was happening, I mean there was a mosh pit in the middle of the streets! Not something you see everyday, but only in Camden.

There set lasted for about 40 minutes which was decent, and each song got more energetic than the last and towards the end a lot more people tried to crowd surf in the store but also a mad guy tried to crowd surf from outside to inside the store which was absolutely mad! He didn't make it of course but you have to give the guy credit for even attempting something as mad as that.

The band played all the bangers, one after the other making the crowd go wild with them, and once again Loz, Aaron and Sean all came out for the last song to meet the outside crowd but ran around the shop into the streets like the mad northerns they are before running right back into the shop again to catch the final lines of "Our Courage Our Cancer" It then all came to an end and everyone from the store made there way out, all hot and sweaty for one last group photo to sum up an amazing night. At this point everyone wanted to be in it, even if the tourist on the streets jumped in to get some action.

 That definitely had to be one of the most maddest gig's ever to go down in the WSS history, and Camden was so lucky to be a part of it. After most people had departed the band then came out to greet even more of their fans,making sure that everyone had a good time and got a chance to meet them which was nice of the band.

Even James from Deaf Havana was there catching the last set from sleeps. No idea where they had come from or why they were there but it was nice to see another fellow band enjoying their set also.
Now everyone was a bit more calmed down and just chilling with people, talking about how amazing the show was, I don't think anyone ever expected this to happen as it was totally random and spontaneous for even the band themselves as they had no idea how mad this show would get.

I was so glad I went in the end, because it honestly was one experience in a life time you'd never get again and I can't thank While She Sleeps enough for making it happening, all for free. Such a quality band to do something like this and still have time to chill with their fans. This being the Third time seeing them live, they have never once disappointed me and are still keep me on my toes with every performance being so unique and memorising.
One of my highlights of the summer. Great lads, thanks a lot guys for everything!

Letlive "Fake History" 2011 Album review

Fake history was Letlive's second album, originally it was released on Tragic Hero Records in April 2013, however this then became re-released by Epitaph Records the following April in 2011 with the three additional tracks.

The album begins with a warm up song, which gets the audience going with its heavy drum beat, which is then followed by Jason Aalon Butler (lead vocalist) voice, in "Le Prolouge". This carries on its upbeat and hardcore  genre as it gets your attention almost imminently and waking you up to the next song which follows on closely, "The sick, sick 6.8 Billion.". This one has to be one of my favourites of the album as it introduces a mixture of voices. Yes we are still hearing the hardcore screams of Jason, but this time we are also exposed to the softer, longer harmony's in which are being belted along with the energetic riffs of the guitar ad outburst of the drums. Now I personally have just heard the album not that long ago, despite that it had been around for three years now, but i instantly fell in love with it. The reason is that Letlive are not just your average hardcore band but much more experimental which is one of the qualities and styles they take into their songs to make it unique and fresh, sure not everyone will understand and agree to what I am saying, however I feel they have mad either mark by doing this but also doing it successfully.

The album certainylu does follow on its constant head hanging songs as the third one in the track list is "Renegade 86" which takes a back seat from the screams. Perfectly lining this song after such a diverse one, it calms the listner down a bit so they feel at ease with the song. The perfect beat of consistency within the song is flawlessly matched with its twisted ending that takes us back to what Letlive is all about and we are familiarised with Jason's voice yet again. Despite the lack of jumpiness it's very catchy and indeed with the riffs and beats of it all, which just make you tap your feel alongside it.

You have to give them credit for their perfect line-up of song order as they know exactly when to play each song for the maximum effect. Now onto "Enemies [Enemigos]" which is a much slow pace movement with a repetitive chorus, like the previous one with its catch drum beats, it acts as a balance as we are experiencing a similarity, yet still receiving a new twist towards the bridge. This all then returns back to its normal state of the song through a fade of repetition, this all changes as soon as we hit the next one which converts us back to the original Letlive tempo. "Casino Columbus" reminds me of their previous album, and takes me back slightly as it reveals elements which were foundered, it certainly puts a twist on what the listener would expect as the first four songs had been a whole new Letlive, they would be happy to know that not all has been changed.

The constant altering of songs which are totally different makes me adore this album even more, it allows so much expression to be exposed in such a short time, for an album it really does live up to what the band is labelled as, while "Muther" takes a softer slow swing with the vocals of Chelsea Warlick in sync with Jason's, it almost takes a soft and calm tone to the song as it's quite releasing to hear halfway through the album. This takes on a similar pattern of repetition when "Holmess Jazz" sets in as the heaviness is focused on the piano, that gives off an old school Jazz sound of diversity. Not seen as just one album from one band to me but Letlive explore pretty much everything in this album, which is done perfectly well that you cant possible hate them for it.

Leaving the album with a new yet familiar taste of auto enhanced vocals, this adds to its technological side of the band as they are capable of producing different combined elements of beauty with edge that intertwine into soft voices just to mess with the structure of the album, which keeps on giving me thrills that a newly formed equilibrium is made.
The last song of chorus has to be the most conjuring as it is probably the one that you would remember the most, while it was fresh in your head, this is the longest in the whole album. The main reason as to why it is my favourite from their work is because it's lyrical. Mind it being a whole six minutes long, the song is like the ending of a book, the final chapter with a hidden moral behind instead of words they are lyrics. The clear voice of Jason mixes with his angry screams as it is shows the two sides in which he is trying to express in this story of a song. The issues talked about are very real to life and relatable as when he is chanting them , its almost like a warning to you, with so much emotion and passion passing through his vocals it really does sink into your head that there is a hidden message here. When the lines of "Can't wait to say I told you so" play in, the tune changes and we are being laughed at with Jason's sarcastic voice of pity, this changes the mood with it also. "Day 54" is just beautifully conducted and concentrated together to produce the most powerful emotion that could be pulled out of us, empathy. The chanting of tempo and beats angers you as you are now feeling the mutual feelings of Jason's cries. It takes you up until the point where you are so intact with the song that you feel completely absorbed by it and taken away a bit.

And that is why the album deserves a well earned 5/5 stars.
