10 Tours not to miss this summer!

AUGUST

Backtrack (GIANTS, YOUR DEMISE 2004)
What more really needs to be said here, 3 superb bands. Also a chance to see the hype about YD2004.
Tickets only being £8 at the fighting cocks in Kingston, it's gonna be a sweaty night.

Turnstile (ANGEL DUST, BELOW, MANKIND, NO REST)
Playing at the Underworld Camden on the 7th.
Hardcore heaven. If you like heavy groovy mixes and up for a manic night then get your ticket.

Deez Nuts ( TRC, COUNTING DAYS, LOUIE KNUXX)
Playing at the Borderline London on the 13th.
Finally a chance to see Counting Days live, alongside Londons own hardcore's finest TRC who bring a mixture of rap and hardcore, producing new fresh sounds.

Worthwhile ( ELEPHANTIS, SHOWYOURTEETH)
Playing at the Garage London (upstairs) on the 19th.
A band that I have been waiting to come over and tour, Worthwile are from the states, producing angelic melodic sounds, along side harsh vocals. Elephantis follow to be a suitable support, keeping a solid build up for the tour.

'68 (Palm Reader, Baby Godzilla, Employed to Serve, Inarchives)
Playing at the garage London on the 17th.
Mainly would go just for Palm Reader and Baby Godzilla as Godzilla are known to put on a show. If you haven't seen this band live before, make sure you do before it's too late as no word can describe their live performances.

LA DISPUTE ( TOUCHE AMORE)
Reading warm up show at the Scala 21st.
What more could you want honestly? La Dispute and Touche? It's just perfect, if you're not going to Reading or Leeds then this is a show for you, or even so go again.

DEADBOLT festival (MANCHESTER)
Brand new to the scene, Deadbolt's first year opens its door to the Sound Control in Manchester for just £10. If you want to catch some upcoming local bands who are seriously underrated then this festival seems like a great deal. Roam, Astroid Boys and Giants are looking to be top for me.

VALES + GRAYSCALE + WHALE BELLY | The Black Heart, London | 19th August
Tickets are only £7, and who doesn't like a good old pub gig? 18+ and sick line up.
Recommend going to see Grayscale if you're into indie emo or a fan of Basement.

SEPTEMBER

The Front Bottoms (PUP)
Finally we get to see a UK headline tour from the New Jersey band.
Proving to be smashing on the Brand New tour, you don't want to miss out on this.

Giants (ROUGH HANDS, HINDSIGHTS)
Playing at the Barfly London on the 11th.
You don't want to miss this tour. If you still haven't heard of Giants then give them a listen right away, but they're another band that you have to see live to give them justice. Energetic, skate punk infused with Hardcore beats, supported by two similar acts.

Cytota (ZOAX)
With support from Zoax there is no reason why you should not go.
Another top band who are all about the performance and making the audience feel involved, Zoax never fail to disappoint or scare the shit out of you, go check it out for yourself.

Modern Baseball ( Spraynard, Chewing on Tinfoil, Losing Sleep)
Back in the UK again this year, we're lucky enough to hear more tunes from the Phili band.
Top band live, for cheesy jokes that aren't funny and just a great interactive night.

Me Vs Hero (ROAM)
Playing London o2 Islington (Upstairs)
Ending the summer and heading back to school you may as well squeeze one more gig in and what better way to celebrate a new semester with this tour.
Two top class pop punk bands. Also Roam are supporting and they haven't stopped touring since the start of this year so check out their hard work.

Reading and Leeds festvial Announcement

As I'm sure most of you are familiar with the annual festival of Reading and Leeds. Normally we could expect to see a mixture of bands and genres announced as being of the leading mainstream festivals in the UK, there has to be something for everyone right?

With the recent announcement today, I'm sure that most of the regular reading fans are shocked by the newly added bands. Not being the final announcement, yet there is still a great deal of rock genre bands. Reading seems to be going back to it's old roots as more pop punk, and alliterative indie rock bands seem to be added.

One thing I was personally shocked by was The Wonder Years, The Story So Far, Gnarwolves, The Front Bottoms and Touche Amore being added. Surly this was more of a Slam Dunk/ Warped Tour line up rather than a mainstream festival?

Not saying that I'm not happy about it, as I am over the moon, it just doesn't seem like an ideal reading line up for a mass audience.
Moving more to the aggressive rock side with bands like Letlive, Of Mice & Men, Architects, Issues and Crossfaith, the metalcore genre seems to be moving from download and emerging to reading as Enter Shikari and A Day To Remember were only playing download just last year!

This has 100% made me want to buy a ticket now.
But what are you thoughts and views on it?

Your Demise FAREWELL TOUR 2014

Your demise have been a band now for four years and to mark the end of the firth year, they have decided to go down with a massive farewell tour in a few places around the UK. Announcing their break up earlier this year, the post-hardcore band from St Albans officially are parting ways right after they do a special tour around the world for last minute fans to catch them in the action before it's all over. (Break up video)
Being a big fan of the band and loving their music for a number of years, the news hit me harder than I expected as recently around that time a number of other bands had announced their departure to the music world and taken a break or officially split up like, Madina Lake and Bowling for soup. It's always sad when a band breaks up, especially when they have played such a curtail and important part in your life, helping you cope through difficult situations or brightening your mood on a rainy day, bands are always there to change that.

One thing was for sure though, they would leave us all with a tour to remember them by. Previously I have seen Your Demise play three times in the past two years and they have all been brilliant in performance wise and also vocals. Edd is a stage warrior, bouncing around in his little shorts, stage diving every so often into the crowd, making sure that everyone was having the time of their life.

Your Demise are playing not one but, TWO dates in London at the underworld Camden which is a tiny venue, guaranteeing that chaos will occur, cramming 300 hundred your demise fans under one small worn out roof. I was fortunate enough to get tickets for both dates of this tour, excited as for each date a different support act would be performing.

TODAY was the day in which they all got announced, after waiting months and months, the cat was right out of the bag and London had an even bigger surprise.

Seeings as YD had two days of supports to filled, I figured they wouldn't be as strong as the other dates, however I was competly wrong.
For the Friday we have:

Marmozets

Palm Reader

These four bands are relatively in the same hardcore/ post-hardcore genre to Your Demise, making them the perfect bands to support.
First up w toe have Crooks who have just appeared on the YOUNG BLOG radar as they are a fresh, new hardcore band from the UK who are currently touring with Malory Knox and other bands, making there way to the top. They are the sort of band who will have you griped on just one song as that's all it took for me to get into their music style, siding me to their music straight away. Next up we have Marmozets which are slightly different and have a cleaner, softer intake on the genre as I would class them more alternative than hardcore as such, nevertheless they seem like a good band to open up for Demise.
Then we have Palm Reader who I have actually seen live before in June, at the Peel in Kingston proving to live up to their genre of being full of action and live.
Lastly Heights, who also formed at a similar time to Your Demise, will bring the final touch just before the headliners take to the stage. Also previously seeing them live before, I know what to expect and can imagine that they will be bringing quite a storm to the underworld for this date.
Then for the last date (SATURDAY) we have:

Now in my opinion this line up sucks balls on all the rest as we have some of the finest hardcore bands from the UK playing for a special gig. The Saturday is like no other ordinary gig as it is the last one your demise will actually play EVER in the UK so, obviously they'd have to make it a good one. The two bands I am mostly looking forward to see are TRC and BWP, as already seeing Landscapes and thinking they were average on sounding and performance, I had yet to see if the rumors of the other two were as real as everyone was making them out to be. Just four months away until this mindblowing tour kicks off, and I will be back to update you on how it went. But what do you think about this news and do you like the supports or not?
I want your feedback, so just drop a comment or email me at: isha-s@hotmail.co.uk
